TARRYTOWN- The New York Farm Bureau (NYFB) is hosting a State Convention unlike any other on December 4 through 6, 2023, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel and Convention Center in Tarrytown, NY, a gateway community to millions of customers in New York City. This year’s theme “A Bridge to Opportunity” will focus on creating new openings for farms and agribusinesses in the competitive northeast marketplace.
Early registration and an evening reception will start things off on December 4, 2023. The main event will begin on December 5 with a set of panel discussions from farmers and food purchasers. This will set the stage for the highlight of the day, a unique wargame led by keynote speaker Brett Sciotto and his team from Aimpoint Research. Sciotto proved so popular at last year’s annual convention that he is back to lead attendees through a fun, competitive scenario. The goal is to develop long term strategies to better connect farmers across the northeast with consumers, including in large urban markets. The wargame is a simulation of a business situation where participants plan actions, debate, and deal with real-world scenarios. It is a unique, fun, and engaging activity that will provide answers to what agriculture in this region wants and needs for the future.
In addition to the signature event, there will be a series of workshops addressing business and communication needs, networking receptions, and a marketplace for New York farmers to sell their locally sourced products. The evening will include a special awards dinner, a fun cornhole tournament benefiting NYFB’s Young Farmers and Ranchers program, and a New York Wine and Spirits Tasting hosted by the NYFB Promotion and Education Committee.
The final day will include NYFB’s annual business meeting featuring delegates from 52 county Farm Bureaus discussing and voting on public policy positions for 2024. It is the foundation of the grassroots advocacy organization.
