GOSHEN – The Orange County Legislature is set to approve the hiring of 10 additional part-time security guards to staff the two campuses of SUNY Orange.
Vice President for Administration Paul Martland said the number of total hours of coverage will not change.
“We have X number of security guards many of whom work over 20 hours a week and we have discovered that under the rules of part-time employees, they can only be limited to 19 hours a week, so they have the same number of hours covered in our seven-day-a-week coverage of both campuses. The total number of security hours doesn’t change; it will just be spread over positions,” he said.
SUNY Orange operates two campuses, in Middletown and Newburgh.
