NEWBURGH- Grace White of the Town of Wawayanda has been elected chairwoman of the Orange County Conservative Committee following the party’s biennial reorganizational meeting held on September 22 in Newburgh. White previously served as the vice-chair of the party, a post she has held for the past two years.
“I want to personally thank longtime chairman John DeLessio for his dedicated service to the party,” said White. “Since taking the helm 25 years ago, Chairman DeLessio has led the party to many successes. His contributions will have a lasting impact.”
DeLessio has made a mark both regionally and statewide as a 50-year member of the Conservative Party. At the reorganizational meeting, DeLessio was elected Chairman Emeritus and will serve in an advisory role to the committee.
Joining White in the leadership of the Conservative Committee is Steven Nunziato of Warwick and Karyn Hudgens-Gorman of Newburgh as vice chairs, Ron Heppes of Middletown as Secretary, and Michael Witt of Deerpark as Treasurer.
The Orange County Conservative Party has grown in enrollment by more than 17 percent in the past decade. The party has over 4,500 enrolled members and had more than 12,000 votes cast county-wide on the Conservative Party line in the last Presidential election.
When asked about the future, White believes the Conservative Party has the potential to continue its pattern of growth in Orange County.
“Our growth can be attributed to the fact that our message of lower taxes, safer communities, and traditional values resonates with people who live in Orange County,” White said. “I look forward to finding new ways to spread our message, with a specific focus on younger voters.”
