Starting in 2024, mailing letters and postcards might come with a slightly higher price tag. The United States Postal Service (USPS) recently submitted a notice to the Postal Regulatory Commission detailing proposed price adjustments slated for next year.
Should the governors of the USPS approve the changes, the cost of mailing services will rise approximately 2%. This would see the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp increase from 66 cents to 68 cents.
Alongside this, the USPS intends to adjust prices for special services products, including Certified Mail, Post Office Box rental fees, and money order fees. However, the additional-ounce price will remain unchanged at 24 cents. Pending approval by the PRC, these adjustments would be implemented on January 21, 2024.
The USPS cites “inflationary pressures on operating expenses” and lingering issues from a past flawed pricing model as reasons for the hike.
