MID-HUDSON – Several area government agencies and officials have expressed their support for Israel as it fights back after Hamas’ terrorist attacks.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced that flags on state buildings will be flown at half-staff indefinitely in remembrance of the lives lost as a result of the terrorist attacks.
“Not since the Holocaust have so many innocent men, women, seniors and children been so horribly attacked merely because they were Jewish,” said a statement from Rockland County legislators. “We stand with Israel.”
A joint statement from Orange County Legislature Majority Leader Thomas Faggione and Minority Leader Michael Paduch said, “We are committed in unity and support for Israel. We mourn those innocent likes that were ruthlessly stolen by the hands of pure evil. In our mourning, we also pray for the families of the victims, whose hearts are forever broken. We know that Israel did not ask for this war, but this war has come, and Israel must do what is necessary to end such barbaric evil.”
The Westchester County Board of Legislators said it “condemns these premedicated attacks and declares its unequivocal support and solidarity with the citizens of the State of Israel and calls upon the people of Israel to help it repel and defeat the armed forces of the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip.”
State Attorney General Letitia James and a bipartisan group of 13 attorneys general from Arizona, California, Delaware, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia said they are “aghast and outrages at the wanton, calculated attacks on civilians going about their daily lives. The carnage, perpetrated by Hamas and its supports, has directly led to the loss of hundreds of innocent lives and horrific kidnappings.
