PORT JERVIS – A 22-year-old Nyack man and two teens, ages 13 and 15, have been arrested and charged with beating a Metro-North Railroad train conductor at the Port Jervis train station on September 7, breaking his jaw.
Metro-North’s west of Hudson lines are operated by NJ Transit, the employer of the victim.
Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said Damarion Gulley is charged in the assault.
“Mr. Gulley acted in concert along with two juveniles, who will not be named, and assaulted the train conductor and as a result of his injuries, Mr. Gulley was charged with assault in the second-degree and he was committed to Orange County Jail on bail. He faces up to seven years in state prison if convicted,” he said.
The assailant is charged with punching the victim with his fist and striking him with a railroad padlock, breaking his jaw.
“This brazen attack on a citizen at their workplace is an affront to the fundamental values of our community,” said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.
Port Jervis Police were assisted in the investigation by the Orange County DA’s Office, police from the MTA, Clarkstown and Town of Wallkill, the county attorney’s office and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
