WHITE PLAINS – An Elmsford police officer has been arrested after more than $15,000 in money has gone missing from his department while he was on duty. Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced the arrest of Elmsford Police Officer Douglas Ramirez on Wednesday, September 27.
Ramirez, 44, a resident of Mahopac in Putnam County, was arraigned Wednesday in Elmsford Village Court on a felony charge of grand larceny and a misdemeanor charge of official misconduct. He is due back in court on October 25, 2023.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on July 27, Rocah alleges that Ramirez, while on duty, accepted a sealed package turned in to the front desk of the Elmsford Police Department. After opening the package and discovering it contained a large sum of cash, he stole the money.
Ramirez was arrested by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office on August 29, and placed on administrative leave by the Elmsford Police Department.
