POUGHKEEPSIE – The Town of Poughkeepsie Police have arrested a 43-year-old Poughkeepsie man in connection with an armed robbery of a Violet Avenue gas station on September 18. Town police arrested Grant on Monday at a residential facility and charged him with felony robbery.
Town police had responded to the Shell gas station at 340 Violet Avenue for a report of an armed robbery. The suspect had fled on foot with an undetermined sum of money and the store clerk’s cell phone.
A police K9 unit attempted to track the suspect from the gas station. At one point, the team discovered the clerk’s phone, a portion of the cash, and some of the suspect’s clothing in the yard of a nearby home as well as a neighboring business.
Police developed Grant as the suspect and took him into custody on Monday.
At the arraignment on Tuesday, he was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond, or $200,000 partially-secured bond.

In 2016, Grant was arrested in Ulster County after he allegedly filled a shopping cart with $2,000 of merchandise and left the store. He was later arrested by the Town of Ulster Police Department.
