ALBANY – A new vaccine has been developed to help ward off the new strains of the COVID-19 virus and Governor Kathy Hochul Wednesday urged everyone to get the new vaccination. She noted a slight uptick in cases in recent weeks.
The governor said it is not a booster and has been engineered to fight the latest versions of the virus.
“Take the right precautions and we can handle this. There is no need to be careless. We have the tools we need – treatment, tests, masks, but the best, most effective way to deal with this is getting the vaccine,” she said. “It’s coming, it will be available, so let’s use it. Get the updated vaccine. It’s very different.
The governor said the new vaccine is recommended for everyone age six months of age and older.
