NEWBURGH- Town of Newburgh police have arrested a 59-year-old Newburgh man and charged him with burglary, criminal mischief, petit larceny, and resisting arrest.
Police say that on Thursday, Duane Williams smashed a glass door at the Itzmi Sushi Restaurant on Route 300, entered, and stole property. When police arrived, they found Williams attempting to exit the restaurant but when he saw the police, he went back inside. He then tried to flee the restaurant through a back door.
A brief foot pursuit ensued, and Williams was taken into custody.
Williams was arraigned in the City of Middletown Court and released on an appearance ticket pending a future court appearance.
