TOWN OF FALLSBURG – Firefighters from several Sullivan County departments fought a massive fire at the former Pines Hotel grounds in the Town of Fallsburg.
Several derelict buildings went up in flames in a blaze that broke out shortly after midnight on Monday morning.
It took some 6 1/2 hours to extinguish the blaze.
The cause is under investigation.
The Liberty Fire Department, meanwhile, fought a structure fire at 62 West Main Street in the Village of Liberty just after 2 p.m.
Within 20 minutes of arrival, the building completely collapsed.
When firefighters arrived, heavy fire was showing from the first floor of an unoccupied three-story house.
White Sulphur Springs and Livingston Manor fire depaertments assisted at the scene.
The cause is under investigation and there were no reports of injuries.
