MIDDLETOWN- The Thrall Library will be holding a public budget vote and trustee election on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in the Reading Room of Middletown Thrall Library. The library is located at 11 Depot Street in Middletown and the vote will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The proposed 2024 budget seeks to increase the tax levy by $156,575, which is 4 percent. The proposed budget reflects a total library tax levy of $4,070,920 and a total gross operating budget of $4,401,920 for 2024.
All registered voters who reside in the Thrall Public Library District are eligible to vote.
The Thrall Public Library District includes residents of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, residents of the Town of Mount Hope who reside within the Pine Bush Central School District, and residents of the Town of Wallkill who reside within the Pine Bush Central School District, Valley Central School District, or Minisink Valley Central School District.
Those who wish to vote early between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. before the library is open may enter the library from one of two entrances located on the Depot Street side of the building.
Voters will also be selecting candidates to fill two trustee seats with four-year terms. Nominating petitions to fill these seats are available from the library’s director’s office starting August 10, 2023.  Completed nomination petitions must be returned to the director’s office no later than 4:00 p.m., on September 13, 2023.
A public hearing on the proposed 2024 budget will be held on September 13, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at the library.
