HYDE PARK – A three-car accident on Monday afternoon resulted in eight people being transported to local hospitals for treatment of various levels of injuries. The wreck occurred at approximately 1:58 p.m. on Route 9 near Education Lane. Roosevelt Fire District Chief Jeff Scala says Route 9 was reopened to traffic at approximately 7:22 p.m. after the investigation of the scene was concluded.
According to Chief Scala, one of the vehicles was severely damaged with an occupant heavily entrapped in the vehicle. Additional fire, police, and ambulance services were requested to respond to the scene to assist while other fire departments covered the Roosevelt district.
A medevac helicopter was initially requested to airlift the trapped victim but was canceled due to an extended response time.
