STORMVILLE – The maximum security Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville has been placed on lockdown following more than 24 hours of violence. State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Acting Commissioner Daniel Martuscello III ordered the lockdown that includes a full facility search.
Most of the violence, according to Martuscello has been “incarcerated against incarcerated” but noted that staff members have also been assaulted.
One correction officer sustained a broken nose and another suffered a laceration after being assaulted with a weapon.
The search of the facility that houses more than 2,000 inmates is expected to take several days.
