MONTICELLO – It has been a year since Sullivan County legislators discussed how to spend just under $1.4 million in opioid settlement money and on Thursday, they approved the plan.
They were taken to task last week by members of the county drug task force for only allocating $400,000 to date.
Without discussion, lawmakers Thursday approved the full spending plan which includes the money previously designated for law enforcement and first responder support.
Funding approved now includes $525,000 to provide support to priority populations for treatment, housing and transportation; $281,000 for prevention, education, marketing, and promotion of mental health; $148,000 for the substance use task force for manpower, training and equipment; and $30,000 for pre-arrest diversion support.
