MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff told a prayer vigil for Israel in Monticello that “we must remain vigilant in our Sullivan County communities” given the “unprecedented events that have taken place in Israel.”
Hamas terrorists have murdered hundreds of Israelis since last weekend.
“There are groups of people in the U.S. and abroad who approve of the Hamas attack on innocent civilians,” Schiff said at the Tuesday prayer vigil. “There is no doubt that this could motivate miscreants in our region to behave in a similar manner.”
He said it is “well documented that people on the terrorist watch list have been crossing our southern border with Mexico for some time” and that is why it is important now, more than ever, to be vigilant and remind the public that if they see something, say something. “Please be safe in your daily life and don’t hesitate to report anything that looks out-of-place,” the sheriff said.
