WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man was sentenced to 21 years in state prison for the fatal stabbing of a 47-year-old Yonkers resident.
Tyrese Shubrick, 24, pled guilty on April 19 to manslaughter in the death of Ruben Martinez Campos.
In addition to incarceration, he was sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
On April 20, 2021, at about 5:40 p.m., Shubrick threatened Campos with a knife at his store on Main Street in Yonkers before taking a hat. When confronted by Campos outside the store, Shubrick stabbed the victim twice in the chest with a knife. His wife witnessed the incident, which was also captured on surveillance video.
Campos died at a hospital.
Yonkers Police arrested Shubrick on April 21, 2021 at Elmsford Village Court where he was appearing on another case.
The knife was never recovered.
