KATONAH – Westchester County officials joined veterans on Wednesday to honor those who have served in the US armed forces. The annual ceremony, days before Veterans Day on November 11, was held at Veterans Memorial at Lasdon Park in Katonah.
County Veterans Services Director Ronald Tocci said the patriotism demonstrated by veterans must not be forgotten.
“Pass on to our younger people, your nephews, nieces, your sons, your daughters, your grandchildren, exactly what a veteran and this country is all about and why this country still exists,” he said. “The United States military has liberated more people over time than all the other nations put together in this world. This world would be a lot different, and right now we are in a critical time. God knows what is going to happen in Israel, what’s going to happen in Ukraine and the United States may well be involved again with boots on the ground.”
But Tocci said if American service members are called up, they will be there to preserve freedom.
