BEACON – Lee Kyriacou has been on the Beacon City Council for over 30 years, the last four years as mayor. In January, he will begin his second term after being reelected unopposed last week.
He said there has been much infrastructure work in recent years with more to come.
“We are in the middle of a firehouse renovation that is going to be spectacular when it is done. We have work on our roads, on our sewers and more to do, and we have to do it while keeping taxes modest,” he said.
The city’s fire department is hybrid – volunteer and career members – and Kyriacou said the ranks are up to 17 career members.
And the city is now contributing funds to ambulance service in Beacon as well.
