KINGSTON- The Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce is using the occasion of its monthly breakfast meeting in December to remind everyone that our local not-for-profit organizations need the help of local businesses this time of year more than ever.
With that in mind, three organizations that perform exemplary work in our community —People’s Place, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ulster County, and Raising Your Awareness about Narcotics (R.Y.A.N.)— will be on center stage at the Dec. 13 Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The event, sponsored by Rondout Savings Bank, takes place at The Venue Uptown at the Best Western Plus Kingston at 503 Washington Avenue. Special seasonal music will be provided by the Kingston High School Choir under the direction of Lawrence Lohman.
“The holidays are always a special time of the year in Ulster County, and even more so this year,” said Chamber President Ward Todd. “The Ulster Chamber is well known for the support we give our members in retail during the holiday season, with our ‘Shop Local for the Holidays’ campaign. This year, we’re also giving greater attention to our members in the not-for-profit community with the theme of our December Breakfast Meeting, ‘Give Local for the Holidays.’”
The speakers will include Christine Hein, Executive Director of People’s Place; Dan Whalen, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ulster County; and Randi Kelder, President and Founder of Raising Your Awareness about Narcotics (R.Y.A.N.)
Todd said each organization will share its vision, impact on the local community, and ways attendees can get involved and help. A Q & A session will follow.
Ulster County is home to many other non-profits and the Chamber counts more than 100 such agencies as Chamber Members, giving them much-needed promotion and publicity as well as a means to connect with the Chamber’s 1,000 members.
