DUTCHESS COUNTY – The funeral for East Fishkill Police Officer Daniel DiDato who was killed in the line of duty on December 18 is being held today, Saturday, December 23, 2023. Hundreds of law enforcement officials are expected to converge on St. Columba Church at 835 Main Street in Hopewell Junction before the 10:30 a.m. funeral that includes a Catholic Mass.
Police officers attending the funeral will be mustering at the East Fishkill Recreation Park on Route 376 beginning at 8:30 a.m. today. When that parking lot is filled, additional parking for police will be directed to the parking lot of the East Fishkill Community Center. If additional parking is needed, attendees will be directed to the Gayhead Elementary School. Bus transportation from the East Fishkill Recreation Park and Gayhead Elementary School (if needed) to St. Columba will be provided.
Following the funeral service, the funeral procession will travel to Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery where DiDato’s family and members of the East Fishkill Police Department will attend the burial service.
Motorists can expect delays as the motorcade passes through the area on the way to the cemetery.
From St. Columba Church the procession will travel:
- West on Route 82
- Turning right onto Lake Walton,
- Then turning left onto Route 376
- Continuing straight onto Hooker Avenue
- Turning left on Dwight Street
- Then turning right on Holmes Street
- Then turning left on Academy Street
- Then turning right on Livingston Street
- Then turning left on South Avenue
- Then turning right into Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
