Eleven arrested in Ulster County Jail for narcotics trafficking

KINGSTON – The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Intelligence Unit and Corrections K-9 Unit have arrested 11 people responsible for organizing and trafficking narcotics inside the county jail in Kingston.

During the investigation, some 650 doses of Suboxone were seized in the jail with an approximate street value of $3,250 and an estimated jail value of $32,500.

Officers also tracked approximately $16,000 in commissary funds and cash app funds used by incarcerated individuals and their associates who were not in jail to facilitate the trafficking operation.

All 11 people were indicted and warrants of arrest were issued. In January, they were all arrested and charged with felony conspiracy.

Arrested were:

Barbara Wilson, 59, of Kerhonkson

Angel Lyons, 32, of Lake Katrine

Kevin Drake, 34, of Kingston

James Hasbrouck, 32, Esopus

Peter Bonavita, 49, of Kingston

William Ramos, 37, of Lloyd

Devin Pope, 30, of Esopus

Lisa Mosely, 50, of Kingston

Phillip Canino, 43, of Lloyd

Tara Dougherty, 51, of Kingston

Ramon Velez, 54, of Plattekill

 

Defendants Ramos, Pope and Hasbrouck were previously incarcerated in the Ulster County Jail and are now in state prison on unrelated charges.

Velez and Drake were incarcerated in the county jail and remain on unrelated charges.

Lyons, Bonavita, Mosely, and Canino were remanded to the county jail. Dougherty and Wilson were released on their own recognizance.

“These individuals showed complete disregard of the law by smuggling drugs and contraband in the Ulster County Jail,” said Sheriff Juan Figueroa.
