MIDDLETOWN – This year’s Christmas tree arrived in the City of Middletown over the weekend compliments of the Ardizzone family on Roberts Bruce Place in Middletown.
The 35- to 40-foot-tall evergreen was installed at John F. Degnan Square on Saturday.
Each year a different family or group donates the holiday tree to the city.
Aspen Landscaping and Tree Service, Lite Bright Signs and the city’s DPW cut it down and installed it. Middletown Police escorted Regional Trucking as it was transported to the downtown park.
It will be decorated with lights on Saturday, November 18 by Harry Rotolo & Sons, Inc., members of the IBEW Local 363.
The annual tree lighting parade and ceremony will take place on Friday, November 24 at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the City of Newburgh has issued its annual call for an evergreen to be donated.
As in every winter holiday season, it will be erected in the center of Broadway just past City Hall.
Anyone who may be willing to donate a tree is asked to contact Omar Balbuena at City Hall at 845-569-7380 or by email at [email protected].
In past years, trees have come from the City and Town of Newburgh, New Windsor and Marlboro.
