TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Town police are investigating a Christmas morning robbery of the CVS pharmacy on South Road in Poughkeepsie. The incident occurred at approximately 11:17 a.m. with two men stealing merchandise from the store.
According to police, two men entered the store at 2503 South Road (Route 9) and loaded a shopping cart with beer and laundry detergent, valued at approximately $294. The men attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise when a female employee attempted to intervene. The man with the shopping cart pushed past the woman and left the store with his accomplice.
The thirsty robbers loaded the stolen items into the back seat of a black Nissan Rogue that was occupied by two other men. The vehicle fled the scene.
At no point during the robbery was a weapon displayed or threatened to be used. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
The vacant vehicle was located by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police on Hooker Avenue a short time later, according to a police official. The owner of the vehicle is believed to have had involvement in the incident and the vehicle was impounded.
