WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man was sentenced on Thursday to seven to 14 years in state prison for committing several residential burglaries in Mount Vernon.
Nathaniel Gordon, 65, pled guilty to two felony counts of burglary. He was sentenced as a second felony offender to two consecutive terms of 3 ½ to seven years in prison.
Just before noon on January 3, Gordon unlawfully entered a multi-family residence in Mount Vernon and stole a box of cookware. He was captured on a home security video entering and leaving the property, returning to the same residence that day and stealing a bag of tools.
Gordon also broke into another home in that city through a basement window and stole three laptops and a laptop bag at about 6:45 a.m. on January 20.
He was captured again on home video walking down the driveway toward the property’s basement window and then walking out to the street minutes later carrying stolen items.
The Mount Vernon Police Department initiated an investigation after receiving reports of attempted break-ins at other homes in that city.
Police arrested Gordon on January 20 after he was identified in home security system videos obtained during the investigation.
At the time of his arrest, he was wearing the same jacket seen in the video recordings.
