The city of Niagara Falls is about to get new leadership in its police and fire departments, Mayor Robert M. Restaino said Thursday afternoon.
Police Superintendent John Faso will retire effective Jan. 1, and will be replaced by Nicholas Ligammari, a captain with more than 25 years of service in the city police force, Restaino said.
The mayor said Fire Chief Joseph Pedulla is also retiring effective Jan. 1, and he will be replaced by Gary Pochatko, a captain with more than 20 years of service with the city.
“John and Joe are both retiring on their own accord. I’m sorry to see them leave. They’ve both done very good work for the city,” Restaino said. “They each feel that it is time to retire after about 30 years on the job.”
