Heavy fire on two stories at the Hopkins Court Apartments in Getzville has displaced residents living there on New Year’s Eve.
Residents of the apartment complex at 2250 North French Road were taken Sunday to a shelter, according to the Getzville Fire Company.
One resident had to be rescued from the balcony of an apartment on fire, the Erie County Blotter said on Facebook.
It was an ongoing scene and no other information was available Sunday night, the Getzville Fire Company said in a statement.
The Amherst Police Department is currently on scene of the residential
fire and asks that the public avoid the area at this time.
Those having trouble locating a loved one should call 716-858-6419, and they will be forwarded to the Amherst Senior Center at 370 John James Audubon, where residents are being taken.
