Maintenance and upgrades to the Metro Rail system in Buffalo will affect riders at most of the stations beginning Sunday, Jan. 7, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority announced.
Inbound and outbound trains will run on a single track every day for approximately five weeks on the underground section between the University and Amherst Stations.
Single tracking also will be done for the next three to four months on the above-ground section between the Fountain Plaza and Canalside Station on Sunday through Thursday nights after 9 p.m.
“We understand the impact this may have on our commuters, and we appreciate their patience during this necessary phase of development,” James Morrell, director of public transit, said in the announcement. “These improvements are integral to the long-term reliability, safety and efficiency of the Metro Rail System.”
