A sheep on the loose Wednesday brought Niagara Falls police flocking to a field in the 600 block of Seventh Street, according to a spokesman for the department.
Officers were called to the scene about 1:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers did not see hide nor fleece of the sheepish fugitive, although they heard it, the spokesman said.
Eventually, the sheep was found in a nearby resident’s backyard. Officers attempted to corral the woolly creature before it was captured by an animal control officer.
The sheep was taken to the Lakeview Animal Sanctuary, an animal protection organization in Lockport. An investigation is continuing to determine who owns the sheep and where it came from.
