A 70-year-old female pedestrian died Friday morning from injuries suffered when she was struck by the driver of a car on Harlem Road between Clinton Street and Mineral Springs Road, West Seneca Police Captain James P. Unger confirmed.
The incident occurred at about 7:15 a.m., Unger said. The name of the victim, who died at a local hospital, was not disclosed as family was still being notified. The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman remained on-scene when police arrived and is cooperating with the investigation, Unger said.
“At this preliminary stage, it appears non-criminal in nature, but the investigation continues,” the West Seneca police captain said.
That stretch of Harlem closed is expected to remain closed until about 11 a.m. as town police investigators continue their work, department officials said. Delays are expected until the road reopens.
