Goshen man sentenced in child rape case

GOSHEN – A 33-year-old Goshen man was sentenced on Friday to 20 years in prison in connection with his previous guilty plea to a rape charge.

Jesus Torres was also sentenced to 20 years of post-release supervision and must register as a sex offender.

He had previously admitted in court that he had engaged in sex with a child under the age of 13.

At the time he pled guilty, it was anticipated Torres would face up to 15 years in prison, but investigation uncovered evidence that he was in violation of his plea agreement with the court and sought the enhanced sentence that was ultimately imposed.

State Police had investigated and arrested Torres with assistance from the district attorney’s office and the Orange County Child Abuse Investigation Unit.
