Jacquie and Joseph Morgante didn’t originally plan to purchase an adult care facility. At first, the Clarence couple was looking to invest in an apartment building.
But when their real estate agent let them know The Willows, a 24-bed adult home in Medina, was for sale, they decided to give it a hard look.
“My husband and I talked about it, and this was like the perfect thing,” Jacquie Morgante said. “We both like to do real estate, but the other part of it was I get to work with the senior population and my true passion.”
Both have health care experience. Joseph Morgante is a state-licensed pharmacist who practiced community pharmacy for two decades before becoming an executive at Wegmans Food Markets. And Jacquie Morgante is a state-licensed speech and language pathologist who has practiced for 25 years, including a decade at Wyoming County Community Health System in Warsaw, where she worked with seniors who received care in the hospital and in the nursing home.
Their change-of-operator application to the state is working through the approvals process, with the couple’s Branching Out LLC finalizing the purchase of and assuming operation of The Willows, at 459 E. Oak Orchard St., from Blue Heron Enterprises.
Their plan, Jacquie Morgante said, is to run The Willows as a “family-owned and operated” adult home. While Joseph Morgante will serve as a business adviser, Jacquie Morgante plans to be hands-on in day-to-day operations as the administrator and resident care supervisor.
