More the 1,200 participants are expected for one of the season’s coolest fundraising events: the fourth annual IceCycle to End Cancer in March.
Registration for the event, presented by West Herr Automotive Group, has begun. It will bring together 13 local fitness studios to lead a 45-minute cycling classes on ice March 8 and 9 at Buffalo RiverWorks, 359 Ganson St., while raising funds for research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Leading three of the classes will be celebrity fitness trainer and internet personality Kristina Girod of Scottsdale, Ariz. With a 14-year history of coaching, Girod has turned her passion for indoor cycling into a global movement through her fitness studio and has amassed more than 3 million followers on TikTok and Instagram.
In a statement from Roswell Park, IceCycle founder Bill Loecher described it as a movement that has made a profound impact. Since it began in 2021, IceCycle has raised more than $1.4 million.
“There’s nothing like seeing more than 1,000 people come together to challenge themselves to make a difference in the world,” Loecher said. “It’s the passion and dedication of the riders, instructors, partners and donors that make this a can’t miss event for anyone committed to our mission to end cancer.”
There are four ways to participate – one class at RiverWorks for a fundraising minimum of $200; a class with Girod for a minimum of $750; two classes, including one with Girod, for a minimum of $750; and a livestream of all the classes online for a minimum of $100.
