As New York prepares for the possibility of extreme winter weather and its effect on local roads, Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday announced $12.9 million in funding for repaving projects at more than a dozen locations across Western New York.
It is part of a total $100 million funding package statewide, Hochul said.Â
“From a devastating blizzard to historic flooding, we are living in a time of record-breaking weather events which have left many roads across New York State in need of repair and rejuvenation,” Hochul said in a news release. “This $100 million will lengthen the lifespan of dozens of roads across the State, making them more resilient in the face of future extreme weather conditions.”
The governor said the state is making highways safer and more efficient through investments in transportation infrastructure while also encouraging local commerce and tourism.
